The purpose of this unit is to continue to help pupils develop the ability to reflect before they act, anticipating the consequences of their behaviour, and being able to make smart choices in everyday life in special preparation for their Educational Outdoor Experience. It presents a first and specific approach to the prevention on the use of alcohol at young age.

  • To recall the if/then model for self-control and decision-making in camp settings or any other setting.
  • To differentiate smart from poor choices.
  • To practice self-control.
  • To apply strategies to practise self-control.
  • To acknowledge that my decisions have an impact on others and ourselves.
  • To use the internet to find appropriate information and facts about alcohol.
  • To build knowledge and understanding of facts about alcohol use.
  • To choose and decide to resist peer pressure and say 'no'.
  • To choose to be an upstander and resist peer pressure to make my own decisions.
  • To avoid getting involved in risky situations and/ or early experimenting.
